WWE Rumor: Why WWE Had Roman Reigns Enter At Number 30 In The Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns was unsuccessful in his quest for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. He was taken out during his match against Kevin Owens by Braun Strowman. Reigns would have another high-profile moment later in the night when he entered the Royal Rumble match in the number 30 spot.

Reigns entering the match in the number 30 spot pissed off a lot of fans (see this compilation video of the reactions of pissed off fans). Many were expecting a surprise return or a debut in the spot, instead they got Reigns. So why would WWE do that?

The rumored reason why WWE had Reigns enter in the number 30 spot was in order to improve the reaction of Randy Orton winning. Orton was not every fans choice to win the Rumble, considering that he has already had a chance to main event Wrestlemania in the past.

Reigns entering was a way for WWE to draw the fans’ anger towards him instead. This allowed Randy to receive a solid reaction after winning. We had many fans tweeting us after the event saying, “just glad that it wasn’t Roman”. Most talk was about Reigns entering the match in that spot, instead of Orton winning. This is likely exactly what WWE wanted.

This also was done to set up the potential match between the Undertaker and Roman Reigns, which we saw teased during the match.

Could it be planting the seeds for a future heel turn? Who knows. We do know that WWE used him to piss off the fans at the Rumble and it seems to have worked.
