Future Opponents For Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar won the WWE Universal Championship from Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33. He did not appear at the Payback Pay-Per-View and it doesn’t look like he will be defending his title until July at the very earliest at Great Balls of Fire.

Even with his recent absence, Brock  is still expected to appear a lot more on WWE television than he did in his previous title run with the company back in 2014. In his previous run, he only defended the title twice before losing it to Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 31.

So who will Brock  be defending his title against?

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Brock is expected to face Braun Strowman at the Great Balls of Fire event in July. This match was teased on RAW several weeks back when Strowman and Lesnar went face-to-face in the middle of the ring. Strowman eventually backed away but the seeds were planted for a future match.

Meltzer also speculates that WWE had Seth Rollins and Finn Balor mention Brock and the Universal Championship on RAW because these are matches that we could see prior to Wrestlemania 34. Rollins has history with Brock, stemming from when he stole the title from him at Wrestlemania 31. Balor also has a case for a Universal Title shot because he never technically lost the title back in August.

As for Lesnar’s opponent at Wrestlemania 34, it was reported several months ago that the plan is likely for a match between Brock and Roman Reigns at the event.

We will have to wait and see what happens. Vince McMahon could change his mind over the next few months but as of right now, these are the guys that Brock is expected to face.
