Is WWE Slowly Breaking Away From A ‘PG’ Rating As Of Late?

WWE’s ‘PG’ rating is often a topic of conversation among fans as a reason to dislike the current product. Many fans wish that WWE would shift away from being family oriented and head back to the days of the ‘Attitude Era’ where anything goes.

While WWE isn’t doing a full on transition, it seems as if the product is getting edgier as of late and could be slowly breaking away from a ‘PG’ rating. Here are some examples:

– Enzo Amore walking around naked backstage. A number of jokes about Lana including that he would ‘stuff her like a turkey’. Clearly some adult content here that doesn’t fit the ‘PG’ narrative.

-Becky Lynch calling Alexa Bliss a bi**h on this weeks episode of Smackdown Live. Only  a big deal because of Becky Lynch’s role as a pure babyface:

– Sheamus and Cesaro drinking before getting into a bar room brawl. This was a call back to the Attitude Era and the APA.

Plus there was a number of ‘Attitude Era’ concepts borrowed: titles changing hands back and forth, back room brawls, parking lot attacks and some adult humor.

Have you also noticed the product getting a bit edgier as of late? We will have to wait for the next few weeks of WWE TV to see if they continue this trend. I think a lot of fans would welcome the change.
