AJ Styles announced on the July 11th episode of Smackdown Live that he was reviving the U.S Title open challenge now that he is Champion. For those that are unfamiliar, John Cena would defend the U.S Title on almost a weekly basis when he was champion a few years ago. This provided some excellent matches and opportunities for talent to shine.

Any of these potential matches sound great. There is no question that this could (and hopefully will) provide some fun matches for us on a weekly basis. AJ’s match with Chad Gable on Smackdown Live proved that it can do a lot for talent as fans were seriously impressed by Gable after it was finished.
As of writing this, Nakamura is the favorite with John Cena in second. WWE will definitely not be giving away Styles vs Nakamura on free TV but some great potential matches could be in store for us fans!
