Updated Plans For The WWE Universal Championship (Possible Spoilers)

Samoa Joe was able to defeat Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules. With the win, Joe became the number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship, earning himself a match against Brock Lesnar.

Many fans are excited about the dream match between Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar at ‘Great Balls of Fire’. What are the plans for after the event?

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the plan is for the match between Joe and Lesnar to be a one-off.

After Joe, Meltzer says Brock will defend the Universal Title against Braun Strowman at Summerslam. There have been a ton of rumors surrounding Strowman but it seems clear that he will return much sooner than the 6 months that WWE is saying he could miss.

The long-term goal as mentioned before, will likely be Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns for the title at Wrestlemania 34. In between Strowman and Reigns, it is possible that we could see Finn Balor and Seth Rollins both get matches against Brock for the title.
