WWE’s Reaction To Other Promotions Possibly Running Shows At Madison Square Garden

There have been some stories floating around as of late about wrestling promotions other than WWE potentially running shows at Madison Square Garden. This is interesting because WWE has exclusively run the building for wrestling shows for decades now.

There was a report that suggested the AAA promotion is looking to run a show at MSG. Also, Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. CEO Chris Ripley said in a recent interview that Ring of Honor plans to have a show at MSG in 2019.

So how is WWE reacting to all of this? According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, they are not very happy (h/t to Ringside News for the quote below):

“I hear that WWE is very upset about the idea of Ring of Honor and AAA running that building. Apparently, it just dawned on them that, “Oh my god, someone else is going to run Madison Square Garden” for the first time since the 1920s”

The rumor going around is that MSG isn’t happy with WWE for booking Wrestlemania 35 events at the Barclays Center instead of the Garden.

We will let you know if any of these non-WWE shows become official.
