4) Vince McMahon Doesn’t Understand Vegan’s
In a 2012 interview with IGN, Daniel Bryan shared the story about Vince’s reaction to him being a vegan. After he had a match with Chris Jericho in NXT, Jericho spoke to Vince backstage and praised Bryan. Vince couldn’t believe what Jericho was saying because Bryan “doesn’t eat steak”.
Here is what Bryan had to say:
“Chris Jericho loves telling me this story about how he had gone back to Vince and said “This guy’s good.” It was after the first match I had on TV, and it was against Chris, and he told Vince I was good. “He can get the people behind him,” he said. And Vince said [in Vince voice] “Yeah, but who doesn’t eat steak?” He thought people wouldn’t buy into a guy who didn’t eat steak. And that’s when I kind of realized that there are a lot of people out there who just think it’s completely foreign for me to not eat animals.”
Daniel Bryan must have changed Vince’s mind on this right?
3) Vince Respects People That (Physically) Fight Him Back
Chris Jericho in his book: ‘The Best in the World: At What I Have No Idea’, told a great story about the time Kofi Kingston and Vince McMahon got into a scuffle on an airplane.
Vince apparently made an offhand comment to Kofi early in his career: “Maybe you’ll get over one of these days,” while on an airplane ride. Jericho told Kofi that he has to go back and challenge Vince to a fight or he will never respect him again.
According to Jericho, Kofi went up to Vince and asked him if he had a problem with him. Vince replied: “Maybe I do, Do you wanna do something about it?”. After they went back and forth verbally a few more times, Vince took down Kofi:
“Vince double-legged Kofi mid-sentence. They scuffled and rolled around in the aisle for a few seconds, until Vince got up laughing. ‘That’s the way to do it!’ he belly laughed and got off the plane”
Kofi has been around WWE for a long time now so it looks like he did earn the respect of Vince for standing up for himself.
