8) How Many Beers In One Sitting???
If you thought that Hogan was embellishing, here are some more eyewitness accounts of the legendary drinking prowess of Andre the Giant. Jim Ross hosted a wrestling legends panel with Dusty Rhodes, Michael Hayes, Mike Graham and Pat Patterson where they all told Andre the Giant drinking stories.
During the panel, the conversation moved towards telling Andre the Giant drinking stories. All of the legends ended up talking about how much Andre could drink.
Dusty Rhodes:
“He drank more than any human being in the history of human beings”
Mike Graham:
“156 beers at one sitting…. He could hold a beer in his hand and you couldn’t see the beer can. His hand would completely cover up a 12 ounce beer can”
Jim Ross asked how often Andre would have to go to the bathroom, considering 156 beers would be a lot of liquid going into your body.
Mike Graham:
“sitting down and drinking straight through, he would get up after every case.
So he would get up and use the bathroom after roughly every 24 beers. For the average person, 24 beers would put you in a world of hurt.
7) Andre’s Drink Of Choice
Cary Elwas co-starred with Andre the Giant in the 1987 film: The Princess Bride. Together on the movie set everyday, the two would drink their fair share of beverages.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Elwas revealed Andre’s drink of choice and it is a strange one:
“The American, a concoction that consisted of 40 ounces of various liquors poured into a pitcher. Elwes said that Andre would drink several of these in a single sitting. I’ve never tasted airplane fuel but I imagine it’s very close to what that must taste like.
It’s very potent indeed, and I remember coughing a lot. But to him, it was like chugging water”
Elwas also said in the interview that Andre, him and their co-star Mandy Patinkin went out drinking after filming was finished on the Princess Bride.
He says that the three racked up a $40,000 bar tab at Andre’s hotel. Sounds like a fun guy to go out drinking with.
