2) WrestleMania 27 is the first and only WrestleMania to not have a title change hands.
Wrestlemania XXVII was the only WrestleMania where we didn’t see at least one title change hands.
- Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan ended in no contest for the United States Championship.
- Edge defeated Alberto Del Rio to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.
- The Miz defeated John Cena to retain his WWE title.
Wrestlemania is usually a place where we see big title changes and moments. Pretty interesting that not a single one changed hands that night.
1) WrestleMania I is the only WrestleMania that didn’t feature a World Title match
After over 30 WrestleManias, only WrestleMania 1 remains as the only one not to feature a world title match. WWE Champion Hulk Hogan instead was in a tag team match in the main event.
Hulk Hogan and Mr. T defeated Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. Muhammad Ali and Pat Patterson served as the guest referees for the match.
A lot of star power in that ring but no World Title was on the line. After the first one, WWE’s World Championship has been defended at the event every single year. The WWE Championship match has become a staple of the event and it didn’t start until Wrestlemania II.
