Every year we always hear about the big signings that WWE has made. Big stars come into the company from promotions around the world. Sometimes we forget that on the other side of that means that there will be some stars from the current roster cut to make room. As a result, our 2017 WWE Releases list was created in order to help everyone keep track throughout the year.
Here is the list of 2017 WWE Releases and where they are now.
Rosa Mendes
Retired from WWE on February 13th.
Rosa retired from WWE back in February of 2017. In 2018, she announced that she was returning to the ring. Her first match back happened in May for Maryland Championship Wrestling. She teamed with former WWE star Adam Rose to defeat Gia Scott and Joe Keys.
In a recent interview, Rose described her business plan to return to WWE:
“I feel like this is my business plan; I want to conquer the independents. I want to dominate in the independents and be super over and have incredible 30-40 minute matches in the independents and show people that I am a great worker and a great performer. As soon as I can say that about myself then I am going to talk to them [WWE]. They may talk to me before then, but I really want to establish myself in the independents before I even step foot in a WWE door again.”
Kenny and Mikey Of The Spirit Squad
Released by WWE on February 25th.
Kenny and Mikey had a very brief return to WWE in 2016. They ended up getting released from the company in early 2017.
The tag team are still wrestling on the independent circuit.

Jack Swagger
Released By WWE on March 1st.
Jack Swagger has been busy, to say the least! He has been making various appearances on the independent scene. He also signed with Bellator and will be fighting in their Heavyweight division this year.
The latest from Swagger is that he is now on Lucha Underground. He is known as “The Savage” Jake Strong.
