5 (Female) Stars That Will Lead NXT Into The “New Era”

For a long time, it appeared that NXT was in a downward slope in regards to the talent on the roster. Over the past couple of months, we have seen a rise in talent in male and female talents that are on the NXT roster, some that I find promising. This will be the second part of a Top 10 list of talents in NXT that will lead the brand into the New Era. Please note, these are in no particular order and completely subjective, and I encourage all of you to sound off in the comments down below and on Twitter with your thoughts!

5.) Billy Kay & Peyton Royce

We’re kicking off with a team that has come into their own now that they are together. Billy Kay and Peyton Royce are easily some of the best heels currently in NXT, where the women’s division is lacking in believable heels and babyfaces. These ladies from “The Land Down Under” have great chemistry and their characters are reminiscent of those high school girls that think they are popular and act as such, picking on the girls that are “less” than them, etc. You guys and gals get the drill. Their in-ring presence is great and the wrestling is good enough to get themselves over, but there is always improvement.

To me, these two remind me of the NXT version of LayCool, the tag team of Michelle McCool and Layla. The parallel I can draw between these two is that LayCool acted like those mean girls (keeping it PG) in high school and basically belittled in the women’s division.

Now, if Royce or Kay become NXT Women’s Champion, will they split the title like LayCool did to the Diva’s title? That is yet to be seen, but I personally would like to see this happen just to have a good laugh. Although they may have to wait in line behind some other women that will be on the list.

4.) Ember Moon

Ever since making her debut at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn II, Ember Moon has proved that she is a very great in-ring talent, and her move-set is very unique, equipped with a corkscrew moonsault Stunner (best way I can describe it, a thing of a beauty thought!).

While it is hard to determine what/who her character is, she makes up for it in the ring and is pretty good as a babyface. I believe she will be a mainstay in the women’s division in NXT for a while, eventually becoming the NXT Women’s champion.

Speaking of the NXT Women’s Championship, she was in a feud with Asuka for the title, coming up short in a controversial loss at NXT TakeOver: Orlando. She then participated in a #1 Contendership Battle Royal match for the NXT Women’s Championship, only for Asuka to interfere in the match and send Ember Moon from the ring and into the barricade (not sure if it was supposed to happen like that), and is currently in a sling and injured. I reckon that after her injury she will be straight back into the title picture.
