A Few Ways That All Elite Wrestling Is Reportedly Targeting Smackdown

You have likely heard the news by now about All Elite Wrestling (AEW). This new promotion will be ran by the co-owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tony Khan. Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks will reportedly have some major backstage roles for the company.

We have some more news to pass your way. This time, about how the promotion is targeting Smackdown in a couple of different ways.

According to a report from Dave Meltzer, the new promotion is getting some significant interest from TV Networks. The success of All In has reportedly impressed a number of TV executives.

According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, AEW plans to pursue a TV deal for Tuesday Night’s. This will become an open timeslot for wrestling when Smackdown moves over to FOX in October 2019. Khan will be able to open plenty of doors for the promotion with his various connections in the Television industry.

AEW’s first PPV event will be called Double or Nothing. The company will be hosting a free rally for the event in Jacksonville, Florida on January 8th. This just happens to be the same day that WWE is in Jacksonville for an episode of Smackdown Live. Fans attending Smackdown will have to drive by TIAA Bank Field, where the rally will be held.

As far as talent is concerned, it will be interesting to see if any WWE Superstars decide to join the new promotion when their contracts expire. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet says that some popular WWE wrestlers are watching closely at what is happening:
