The Anti-Slammy Awards – 10 Awards For The Absolute WORST In WWE For 2016

Most Disappointing PPV of the Year Award

Our Winner: Hell in a Cell

The Hell in a Cell PPV was the worst event of the year for me personally. The event featured 3 Hell in a Cell matches: Roman Reigns vs Rusev, Sasha Banks vs Charlotte and Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens.

3 cell matches in one night seemed like overkill. It might just be me, but I feel as if the cell structure is something special and it kind of devalues it a bit when there is 3 in one night. Especially in today’s WWE when there are restrictions on blood and how far the talent can go. Not saying any of the cell matches were bad, just seemed like it was a bit overkill.

I also think WWE botched the promotion of the event. They advertised that Charlotte vs Sasha were making history by being the first females to step inside the hell in a cell structure. What they didn’t advertise was that this was the first-time females have main evented a WWE PPV, which really is a big deal. Instead WWE advertised it as a Triple Main Event between all 3 cell matches, likely because they didn’t want to commit to calling one match the main event.

The rest of the card was decent but nothing special. Overall, I thought it was the most disappointing show of the year.

  1. What happened to Ambrose at WrestleMania was a travesty. He busted his butt to promote that match and got stuck with an opponent that didn’t want to work with him and didn’t want to do anything but the bare minimum. If Ambrose had been working with anyone else but Lesnar, that match would’ve more than lived up to the hype.

    • That’s because Lesnar sucks!!! I am glad Goldberg beat his a$$ and now they can both disappear and go away and let the wrestlers who want to work go!! Concussing Randy Orton and refusing to work with Dean Ambrose…SMH Lesnar!

      • Lesnar is the worst kind of part timer, he gets paid no matter what so there’s no incentive for him to put forth any effort or do what the company wants if he doesn’t feel like it. It’s galling to think that Ambrose worked so hard and got nothing out of it. If it had been anyone else, Ambrose would’ve looked like the star he is, instead he was made to look like a loser because his opponent didn’t want to work with him.
