Backstage News On Jim Johnston’s Release From WWE

News broke this weekend that longtime WWE composer: Jim Johnston had been released from the company. This came as a surprise because Johnston had been working for WWE for 32 years. He is also responsible for some of the most iconic entrance themes in WWE history.

Here are some more details on the departure of Johnston from WWE.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), says that many people within the company were not surprised by the release of Johnston. Many expected it to happen.

Johnston reportedly wanted to stay with WWE but had a very high contract.  WWE hasn’t been using Johnston much since 2012. They have been using CFO$ for the majority of their music.

WWE doesn’t comment on the status of their employees, so no official announcement will likely be made about his departure.

Johnston is responsible for iconic themes like: The Undertaker, D-X, The Rock and more. More recently, he is responsible for Baron Corbin’s new theme song.
