John Cena Comments On Fans Wanting Him To Turn Heel

John Cena was recently interviewed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. He answered five questions for the sites ‘Extra Mustard’ section. One of the most interesting questions that he was asked, had to do with a potential heel turn.

John Cena turning heel has been a hot topic of debate for the past several years among fans. After over a decade of Cena being on top of WWE, it still hasn’t happened.

Here is what Cena had to say about fans wanting him to turn heel and if his current work with children (through Make-A-Wish and various other charities) is justification for not turning:

“I don’t think everyone wants me to turn. There is a group of people that don’t like what they see, but the most important message I send is you can’t please everybody, never be ashamed to be who you are, and know that what you do affects people. I look at it as a way to provide hope for families that don’t go through what we consider a normal day by providing a smile and happiness. I look at WWE as a vehicle to provide an escape and happiness. That’s why I’m here every year, I believe in what we do”

Our take: I want a Cena heel turn as much as anybody but he is right. He is a real life superhero to all of these children and provides a ton of happiness and hope for them. From WWE’s point of view, he sells a boatload of merchandise, so there is no real need to turn him into a heel.
