Reason #3: Ratings During Football Season
I think this is a reason that a lot of fans overlook. Football season is starting and Monday Night Football is a serious competitor to RAW and their ratings every year.

Instead of laying down and losing viewers, WWE is booking a big time feud/ match for September to try and keep eyes on their product. By doing such a big feud like this right now, it might convince some fans to keep watching RAW instead of flipping over to the football game. Or at the very least, it might convince fans watching the football game to flip to RAW occasionally to try and see what is going on with Cena and Reigns.
Sometimes we see WWE put on some mediocre shows when they are up against heavy competition. To me at least, WWE booking this match now indicates that they are not going to just give up now that Football is back.
WWE will never fully compete with the NFL but at least they aren’t laying down and dying.
Reason #4: Will Force Roman Reigns To Up His Game On The Microphone
One of the biggest knocks on Roman Reigns is his work on the microphone. As we saw on the August 28th episode of RAW, Cena and Reigns got into one heck of a verbal spat.
During the promo, Cena seemed to get the better of Reigns with his verbal barbs. At one point Reigns forgot his lines, causing Cena to rip into his microphone skills. Reigns responded with some fiery worlds to Cena about him busting his ass everyday for the company. It was certainly more passion and fire that we have seen from Reigns in his career.
John Cena is fantastic on the microphone and can make just about anybody look foolish. This is going to be the biggest challenge of Reigns’ career from a promo point of view and will likely push him to get better. Getting pushed on a weekly basis from Cena will only bring the best out of Reigns.
Sure this same thing could have happened if they feuded at Wrestlemania time but this just means Reigns is going to get challenged (and will improve) a lot sooner. Maybe because of this feud, Reigns is a much better talker by the time Wrestlemania 34 even happens.
I am not saying that Reigns is going to be the next CM Punk on the microphone after this feud is done but he will certainly learn something from battling against Cena.
