As you might have heard by now, TMZ cameras spotted Triple H having dinner with Ronda Rousey and her agent on Tuesday night. This was at the Republique restaurant in Los Angeles. Ronda was asked about the nature of the meeting but didn’t comment.
So why did they meet? Here is a report on the potential reason.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the belief is that this was a planted story. This would mean that WWE wanted TMZ and other major outlets to pick up the story to get it in the news.
Meltzer says that this is something that occasionally happens between TMZ and WWE. It was likely not just a coincidence that they were spotted together and the story was picked up.
Why would they do this?
This would seem like a good way to generate some buzz in the media before Ronda appears on WWE Television. If you really think about it, if WWE wanted to keep it a secret, they wouldn’t have had dinner together in a public restaurant in Los Angeles.
Meltzer says that WWE wouldn’t have shot the angles with Ronda last Summer if there wasn’t an understanding in place that they would be doing business together.
