Re-Writing The Book Chapter 8 – What If CM Punk Didn’t Leave WWE?

Can you believe it’s been over three years since we last saw CM Punk in a WWE ring? In January of 2014 CM Punk after the Royal Rumble took his ball and went home. This is allegedly after being upset with having a match planned vs. HHH at Wrestlemania and working through injuries. Let me say this I don’t believe CM Punk would have any problem working HHH in a match at Wrestlemania. I think he left because he was burnt out, and just couldn’t work through the pain anymore at this point. Hearing Vince and HHH speak about it they’ve talked about how Punk wasn’t the most vocal about situations and how he kind of kept to himself. Let’s say WWE paid a little more attention and worked some time off into storyline. What if Punk doesn’t leave and he is there in 2014?

So CM Punk has just been eliminated by Kane during the Royal Rumble and he comes out the next night on Raw and get’s decimated by HHH and Kane. This allows CM Punk to go away and properly care for his staph infection. I think Punk getting some time away and getting treatment before Wrestlemania would have helped him physically and mentally. This would lead to CM Punk coming back the night of Elimination Chamber where HHH would be taking on Daniel Bryan for the right of Bryan to go to the main event of Wrestlemania. Punk would cost HHH the match to a thunderous ovation and Bryan would be in the main event of Wrestlemania against Orton and Batista.

The next night on Raw there would be a match setup with Kane and CM Punk. CM Punk would go on to win this match however get a beat down from HHH after the match. This would of course lead to the match happening at Wrestlemania XXX. Imagine CM Punk vs. HHH added to the same card that has Lesner and Undertaker and the main event triple threat. HHH would be consumed with CM Punk and Stephanie would be consumed with the Daniel Bryan situation. Of course CM Punk vs. HHH would not open the PPV however it would happen before the Undertaker and Lesner match. CM Punk would get his win back from HHH.

The next night on Raw CM Punk would come out to brag about defeating HHH only to be interrupted by former advocate Paul Heyman. Heyman would come out and introduce CM Punk to his new client Cesaro who would attack CM Punk laying him out. So the match for extreme rules would be set Cesaro vs CM Punk. This of course would go about fifteen minutes and although Cesaro would be able to showcase his strength ultimately CM Punk would overcome Cesaro.

With Daniel Bryan getting injured and being written off TV by Kane. CM Punk would have come to the rescue just a moment to late and we would get another CM Punk vs. Kane match set for the Payback ppv. CM Punk would continue his winning streak and take down the demon further solidifying himself as someone who could be in line to pick-up the title if Bryan can’t return. CM Punk the next night on Raw would qualify for the money in the bank ladder match to determine the new WWE champion.

At Money in the Bank CM Punk would come close however would not be successful in the match when Bray Wyatt would cost him the title. John Cena would still win the title leading to the match between Brock Lesner and John Cena. This would have us on a collision course to a Bray Wyatt and CM Punk feud for the summer. This feud would bring out a darker side of CM Punk and Bray I think would end up in a better place at the end of the feud. The promo’s between the two would be something special and would really set the table to a mega match at Summerslam.

However first we would have Battleground where we would have our first match between the two. This would see Bray Wyatt pick-up the win after some cooky light effects and interference from the Wyatt Family. This would lead to CM Punk taking out the Wyatt Family one by one on Raw leading up to Summerslam. Again we would see a darker side of CM Punk and a more cerebral side of him. We would now have Bray Wyatt vs. CM Punk at Summerslam in a cage match to keep the Wyatt Family out.

At Summerslam which would also feature Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins, Brock Lesner vs. John Cena, Jericho vs. Miz and Reigns vs. Orton we would have CM Punk vs. Bray Wyatt inside a steel cage. They would get plenty of time and this time when the lights go out they come back on with CM Punk standing outside of the cage. This is a finish we would have never seen before and would have certainly been controversial. CM Punk would walk backwards from the ring blowing a kiss at the Wyatt Family and Wyatt would be absolutely infuriated.

Night of Champions would see the rubber match between the two superstars. This match would see a lot of physicality between the two and ultimately would see CM Punk go over Bray Wyatt. CM Punk would now be moving onto bigger and better things and that would be a match against Randy Orton inside Hell in a Cell to determine the number one contender for Brock Lesner. Randy Orton of course being the guy of choice by the authority and CM Punk being the anti authority guy who has been on a roll ever since beating HHH at Wrestlemania.

Hell in a Cell would come around and you guessed it CM Punk would be the guy to win the Hell in a Cell match against Randy Orton and now the number one contender against the beast incarnate Brock Lesner. Of course Lesner would not be at Survivor Series that year and we would get the anti authority team of CM Punk, John Cena, Big Show, Erick Rowan and Ryback take on the team of Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev and Luke Harper. Big Show would still turn on the face team and John Cena would also lose early in the match.

CM Punk would be the last man standing and be the guy Sting ultimately helps defeat Seth Rollins at Survivor Series. CM Punk would move on to his next opponent and in order to look like a capable opponent to Lesner he would face Big Show at TLC. Big Show who would have turned on him at the last PPV. He would defeat the Big Show and the stage would be set for the Royal Rumble of Brock Lesner vs. CM Punk for the WWE championship.

We would miss out on one of the greatest triple threats of all time because of this however we would have CM Punk vs. Brock Lesner with the winner going to Wrestlemania to take on Roman Reigns for the WWE championship. Sorry Punk fans however we were destined to have Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesner at that PPV. Brock Lesner would go on to defeat CM Punk and once again Punk would miss out on the main event of Wrestlemania.

At Fastlane we would have a match between the authority with Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Kane vs. CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler and Ryback. The faces would pickup the win after CM Punk pins Randy Orton. After the match Kane would tombstone Randy Orton and he and Rollins would leave. This would lead us to our Wrestlemania matches with these guys. We would have Kane vs. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk.

Chapter 1 – Bret Hart | Chapter 2 – Owen Hart | Chapter 3 – Brian Pillman | Chapter 4 – Daniel Bryan  | Chapter 5 – Cody Rhodes | Chapter 6 – Kenny Omega | Chapter 7 – Zack Ryder

So one year after he walks out of the company he would be facing the future face of the company in what would hands down be the match of the night. CM Punk would defeat Seth Rollins just as Orton did. This would lead us to the Rollins cashin later that night and a triple threat for the next PPV of CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Title. However that is all for this chapter of Re-Writing the book. Are you in agreement with how things would have gone? Do you hate it? Could you book it better? Let me know and as always until next time be awesome.
