News broke on Thursday of this week that NXT wrestler and WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor: HoHo Lun had been released from WWE. The news was first reported by Wrestling INC.

Lun lost in the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He defeated Ariya Daivari in the first round before being defeated by Noam Dar in the second round. He was used sparingly on NXT television over the past several months.
So was HoHo Lun fired or did he ask for his release?
According to a report from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Lun was not fired but instead asked for his release due to family issues.
Here is the statement from WWE on his release:
“WWE has granted HoHo Lun’s request to be released for personal reasons.”
He was last seen on NXT television on June 28th in a loss to ‘the Velveteen Dream’.
