WWE aired a “special look at Ronda Rousey” video package on Monday Night RAW this week. This included interviews with current WWE stars talking about Ronda and some training footage.

Even though this was obviously done to hype her upcoming appearance at the Elimination Chamber, there was another reason why it aired.
Dave Meltzer discussed this video package on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here). He says that it was likely done in order to avoid any boos for Ronda when she appears on Sunday. Here is what he said (h/t to Ringside News):
“They know there is a resentment or there appears to be a resentment. You never know how strong it is until you really see it until she comes out. We will see on Sunday. It’s a hardcore fan group in Vegas. Maybe Vegas will be a good city for her, who knows. You don’t know, you really don’t know what’s going to happen or how people are going to react. I can see with this footage they were really trying to make sure she didn’t get booed as much as they can. There is nothing that makes you like someone in theory than watching them train their ass off at your thing.”
The big question is, what will Ronda’s crowd reaction be on Sunday? It is an interesting situation. If you poll fans online, there are certainly some who aren’t happy with Ronda coming in and taking up the spotlight. Some fans feel like her Royal Rumble appearance took away from Asuka’s victory.
As Meltzer says, this video package gives a small insight into Ronda working hard as she prepares to compete in the squared circle. Will it lead to fewer boos? Maybe it will help, maybe it won’t. We will have to wait and see on Sunday.
