3) Backstage Note On An Idea Pitched For Wrestlemania 38
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was an internal idea in WWE for Gable Steveson to debut at Wrestlemania 38. During this, an idea was discussed for him to pin Omos in 20 seconds.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
”You don’t know how many people, including those in the company, have suggested or talked about having Steveson debut at Mania and just slam and pin Omos in 20 seconds to get his career going. But that is not the current plan.”
My Take:
- Glad that is not happening. What a way to bury Omos for no reason after building him up as a monster.
2) Late Change Made To Smackdown
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Kofi Kingston was originally planned to face Ridge Holland on Smackdown. This was a late change and Woods ended up facing Holland instead.
Here is what Sapp wrote:
Xavier Woods was listed internally as accompanying Kofi Kingston. He’s been off the company’s internal inactive list for quite some time.
Kofi Kingston was slated internally to face Ridge Holland. Xavier replacing him was not spelled out internally

- I am just happy to see Woods back and wrestling.
