Rumor Roundup: Big Match Planned For RETRIBUTION, Promo Line Wasn’t Supposed To Air, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Actual Length Of Jeff Hardy’s Contract

Over the past few days, there have been some rumors that Jeff Hardy has signed a 5-year contract with WWE. While Jeff has re-signed with WWE, his deal isn’t for that long.

According to Mike Johnson of PWinsider, Jeff’s new contract is for 2-3 years. Here is what he wrote:

PWInsider.com is told that while there have been rumblings that Hardy signed a five year deal making the rounds, that is actually incorrect.  We have been told by multiple sources that the new contract, including that was added to Hardy’s previous contract due to injury-related inactivity, is closer to 2-3 years total in length.

My Take:

  • This makes sense to me as 5 years would be a long deal for someone at Jeff’s age. 2 to 3 years lets both parties see how things are going and either side can choose to walk away after it expires.

4) Promo Line Was Not Supposed To Air On RAW

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura showed up on a recent episode of RAW. During their pre-taped promo, Nakamura said the following line about The Street Profits: “If they want smoke, they will get cancer.”

According to WrestlingNews.co, this line was accidentally aired by WWE. Michael Cole corrected them by saying “If they want smoke, they’re gonna get some here tonight”. Here is what the site wrote about what happened:

We were told that the cancer line was not supposed to make it onto the show but with so much happening behind the scenes someone simply forgot to use a different version of Nakamura’s promo.

My Take:

  • This definitely shows how chaotic things have been behind-the-scenes if true. There is a lot going on and somebody just forgot to include the correct footage.
