Rumor Roundup: Big Moment Scrapped From Wrestlemania 36, WWE Star Has Creative Freedom, More

1) Big Moment Scrapped From Wrestlemania 36

According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, there were some big plans that were scrapped from Wrestlemania 36. The report claims that there was a big pitch backstage for Hulk Hogan to take part in the event in Tampa Bay (before the event was moved to the WWE Performance Center).

Hogan was apparently supposed to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Here is what the site wrote:

This week I was told that there was a pitch made to have Hogan appear in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and to have him win the match.

A WWE source said, “The idea was he wouldn’t take any bumps. We would work it so he would only have to eliminate one or two guys at the end and then he would get his big celebration at the end with his music. It would have been perfect because he lives in the Tampa area.”

I was told that the idea was pitched to Vince McMahon and he did not shoot it down and the idea was still on the table as of late February. Again, the source told me that even if Hogan agreed to this, the plans would have been scrapped once the company realized that they had to pull the battle royal from the show.

The site also says that the plans fell through due to WWE and Hogan not reaching a deal financially.

My Take:

  • If this is true, I am happy that they scrapped the plans. I can’t even imagine the salt if Hogan were to win the battle royal over a younger talent. It seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
