Rumor Roundup: Brock Lesnar’s Future, Backstage Reaction To Kofi vs Drew, More

3) Backstage Notes On The WWE-NJPW Talks (Part 2)

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Daniel Bryan has not been a part of the recent talks between WWE and NJPW.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Also, while Bryan Danielson was absolutely part of the early talks, that hasn’t been the case of late as far as the major aspect, and one source said he hasn’t been a part of any recent talks. New Japan also would not agree to any deal unless they felt it was extremely beneficial to them, and keep in mind that WWE has regularly tried to talk with them in the past and it’s gotten nowhere and the real difference here is Nick Khan has never been involved in these talks in the past

My Take:

  • This is definitely interesting in regards to Daniel Bryan’s future. I am intrigued to see what happens with Bryan and if he stays with WWE.

2) The Upcoming Plans For NXT

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to send NXT back on the road starting in July.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

NXT talent was told that the brand will start running live events again in July. No exact date was given. The idea would be to run in the usual 200 to 400 seat buildings they were running in before when they ran the Central and Northern Florida coconut loop.

My Take:

  • This makes sense with the WWE main roster going back on the road soon. It was only a matter of time before they followed suit with NXT.
