Rumor Roundup: NXT Superstars Receive New Names, 2021 Royal Rumble Favorites, More

3) More On Chad Gable’s Name Change

Chad Gable officially dropped the name ‘Shorty G’ on the latest episode of Smackdown. He is back to being known as Chad Gable. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscribe here), this name change has been planned for several weeks now.

There was a segment that was originally supposed to air a few weeks back that included Gable’s name change. It ended up getting scrapped due to time constraints. Sapp says that Drew Gulak was involved in this original segment.

My Take:

  • Either way, I am just happy that they dropped the Shorty G name. It was terrible and I feel like it was really holding Gable back. I am excited to see what Gable does over the next few months.

2) More On The WWE Draft Pools

According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, several Superstars were not informed about which pool they would be in for the WWE Draft. Instead, they found out when the news was released by Fox Sports.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Several WWE talent spoke with Fightful and let us know that they were informed about where they would be in the WWE draft pool by the Fox Sports report that went up on Thursday afternoon. At least one was said to have expressed displeasure about this. WWE issued a virtually identical press release shortly thereafter.

There were several that actually found out they wouldn’t be included in the draft pools via the WWE statement as well.

My Take:

  • This does seem like a communication issue from WWE. They should be keeping their Superstars in the loop so that they don’t find out at the same time as the fans do. Maybe it was to avoid spoiler leaks though? That is the only thing that I can think of.
