Rumor Roundup: Why Apollo Crews Missed Extreme Rules, Sasha-Asuka Finish Changed, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Why Apollo Crews Missed Extreme Rules

Apollo Crews was supposed to defend his United States Championship against MVP at Extreme Rules. This match didn’t happen as it was revealed Apollo was not medically cleared to compete for the match.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the reason why Apollo missed the show is being linked to COVID-19.

My Take:

  • This is the only thing that really makes sense. WWE must have found out really close to the show or they wouldn’t have booked the match for the PPV in the first place.

4) Finish Changed At Extreme Rules

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Asuka was originally scheduled to beat Sasha Banks at Extreme Rules. Vince McMahon decided to change the finish of the match at the last-minute.

Speculation is that the screwy finish was done in order to try and help the viewership numbers for RAW and get people to tune in to see what happens next. That is just speculation though at the moment.

My Take:

  • I am just glad that Sasha didn’t lose clean so that we get more matches between her and Asuka. I really enjoyed their match at Extreme Rules and I am excited to see more.
