Rumor Roundup: Why Lesnar vs Lashley Isn’t Happening, Another Possible Call-Up, More

1) Why Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley Isn’t Happening

As noted in a previous rumor roundup, Goldberg vs Bobby Lashley could be happening at Summerslam. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer spoke about why Lashley isn’t facing off against Brock Lesnar at the event.

Here is what Meltzer wrote about why Lashley vs Lesnar is not happening at Summerslam:

Goldberg will return on 7/18 in Dallas, likely for the challenge. The Lesnar match was talked about a lot but constantly denied. The feeling was that Lesnar isn’t coming back for a number of shows right now, so he’d have to lose. And those in the Reigns camp see Reigns vs. Lesnar with the Heyman history as a big program not to be weakened by Lesnar doing a job or doing a non-finish with Lashley right now. Like I’ve said before, in 1985 that would be how I’d see it, but today I don’t see a Lesnar lost to Lashley this year hurting a 2023 program with Reigns vs. Lesnar.

My Take:

  • If this is true, it seems like Brock vs Roman Reigns could be the plan for Wrestlemania 38. We will have to wait and see.
