Rumor On WWE’s Original Plans For AJ Styles.
AJ Styles has made a big impact on the WWE since he made his amazing debut at this years Royal Rumble. He has put on amazing matches with Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns and now John Cena.. Not a bad way to start his WWE career. It is incredible to hear the latest rumor that it WASN’T in the original plans for AJ to be anywhere near the main event scene of WWE television.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required but recommended), the original plan for AJ Styles when he was brought in as as a mid – low level guy. The WWE brass weren’t confident that he was a massive draw until he got to the WWE. The reaction he received at the Royal Rumble, paired with the incredible crowd reactions that he was receiving at house shows made the WWE change their mind. According to their report, the WWE now considers AJ in their top 5 stars who perform regularly for the company.

It doesn’t surprise me that AJ would have to prove himself when he comes into the WWE. As big of a name as AJ is, I still feel like Vince thinks any other company is irrelevant and you only prove you’re a draw in the big time. Good on AJ for proving the company wrong and I hope they push him to the moon with the brand split. He is one of the most talented wrestlers that I have ever seen and is so fun to watch each week.
Who else is in the top 5 stars who perform regularly? Has to be Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, John Cena and AJ right??
Hopefully the WWE slowly changes their ways and realizes that guys can come in and make a big impact right away if they are stars somewhere else.

WWE needs to come to terms with the internet and how it is used. It isn’t just a thing to get silly, attention-seeking hashtags. Wrestling fans of all ages want more and they share wrestling the love on social media and sites like this. Many fans are aware of other promotions and the stars that occupy them. WWE still have the old territories mentality in all the wrong ways.

Champion multiple times with different parthers.
