Natalya was unsuccessful in her claim to win back the Smackdown Women’s Title at Clash of Champions. After she was defeated by Charlotte Flair, she grabbed the microphone and cut a promo. Natalya said: “The WWE Universe wants to turn their back on me? Well, now I’m turning my back on all of you”. She stormed off.

Is Natalya retiring? What does this mean? Let’s speculate on some potential scenarios.
1) There were some fans pointing out that Natalya’s promo reminded them of 1997 Bret Hart when he turned heel. The idea here would be that Natalya has spent so much time knocking Charlotte for living off of her Family’s legacy, that the promo was meant to show some intended irony. Natalya cuts a similar promo to her uncle from years ago, after scolding someone for using their family’s legacy. If this is the case, I am not sure where they go with this other than to showcase Natalya’s character as a hypocrite.
2) A character change is coming. Natalya teased on Twitter after the match that it was time for a change:

3) Natalya is being written off TV for a little bit. With the Riott Squad coming to Smackdown Live, her screen time might be limited. This could be a way to take her off TV and bring her back at some point down the road.
4) This promo has no significance and we are speculating for nothing.

She stinks as a heel. You can’t cut a heel promo on the fans when you’ve been a heel for months. I can’t figure out if her promos are supposed to be over the top bad or not.
