Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable were defeated on Smackdown Live this week by the New Day. This was interesting since Benjamin & Gable were looking like they would be getting a rematch against the Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles at Clash of Champions. That certainly seemed like what WWE was building towards over the past few weeks. Now, it appears like WWE has changed their course.
Let’s speculate on what WWE is going to do with the Smackdown Tag Team Titles at Clash of Champions.
Scenario 1 – The match will now be a triple threat at Clash of Champions: The Usos vs the New Day vs Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable. Even though Benjamin & Gable lost to the New Day, they still seem to be owed a rematch from the Usos for the Tag Team Title match a few weeks ago that ended in a count out.
Scenario 1 seems the most likely after Smackdown. Here are some more ideas if WWE goes another route:
Scenario 2 – WWE calls up the Authors of Pain to join the tag team division. After the tag team title match at Clash of Champions, the Authors of Pain lay all of the teams out to make their debuts. It seems like only a matter of time before they get called up to the main roster. The only question is RAW or Smackdown?
Scenario 3 – WWE decides to get the Bludgeon Brothers involved. Might be too soon though as it seems like they are building them up slowly. Still an option though.
