Stephanie McMahon Clarifies Shane McMahon’s Current Backstage Role With WWE

Shane McMahon returned to WWE in 2016 and has remained in a prominent role on WWE television. He is currently the Commissioner of Smackdown Live and is featured on a weekly basis.

That is on-camera though. So what about behind-the-scenes? Does Shane have any backstage role with the company, whether that be as an executive or on the creative team?

Stephanie McMahon was recently interviewed by Bloomberg where she clarified Shane’s current role with the company. Here is an excerpt from the article, which includes comments from Stephanie:

“In 2016, after six years away from WWE, Shane McMahon, Stephanie’s older brother, returned. These days, he plays the on-screen commissioner of SmackDown Live and wrestles with a vengeance. “He is really a strong talent for us right now,” says Stephanie—though he isn’t, she points out, an actual executive at the company”

Looks like Shane is simply being used as an on-screen talent. There were some rumors that this was the case, but Stephanie confirms it for us here.

Speaking of Shane, he is one of the four names considered to be the tag team partner of Ronda Rousey. Here are the other 3 names.
