We posted prior that there has been discussions within WWE about a potential match between the Undertaker and Aj Styles at Wrestlemania 33. The match would be billed as ‘The Phenom vs the Phenomenal One’ and would likely be a big draw.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the match is still in talks but it could be happening a bit sooner than Wrestlemania 33. There are rumblings that WWE wants to set this up for the 2017 Royal Rumble.
The only problem has to do with the Undertaker’s health as he is still recovering from hip surgery. If he progresses well, this match very well could happen at the Rumble.
We have already seen AJ Styles tease a potential match against Shawn Michaels… I think he would ‘settle’ for a match against ‘Taker instead.

The only thing is, AJ Styles is currently WWE World Champion. If WWE wanted an easy way to set it up, they could have ‘Taker cost Styles the title at TLC (in his match against Dean Ambrose). Or they could have AJ retain the belt and have the Undertaker challenge for the title.
The 2017 Royal Rumble takes place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The building seats over 60,000 so WWE is going to need a massive match to fill those seats… Could the Undertaker vs AJ Styles be the main event?
