4) Matt Hardy Gets Choked Out By Eve Torres
There was a long-standing rumor that on one of WWE’s overseas tours, Matt Hardy had too much to drink and was choked out by Eve Torres at a bar.
Eve finally opened up about the situation on an appearance on the MMA Hour. She says that she and Matt were “play fighting” after having too much to drink. It ended with Eve (a legit BJJ Purple Belt) choking out Matt:
“So I sink in a rear-naked choke, and put my hooks in, and he goes to sleep. Yeah. And he starts, um, snoring. And all the other wrestlers were like ‘You just got choke out by an interviewer!’ I was an interviewer backstage, I wasn’t even in the ring yet!”
Hardy apparently had to go to court for the incident for being intoxicated in public. It is rumored that nothing came out of the trial except the Undertaker busting his balls for the incident.
Stephanie McMahon confirms the incident, tweeting a photo of her and Eve with the caption: “The ole Matt Hardy Chokehold”
Tough one for Matt but a funny story none-the-less.
3) Muhammad Hassan Gets Ribbed And Pays For It
One of the most infamous cases of wrestlers court had to do with former WWE Superstar, Muhammad Hassan. Hassan was ribbed into telling Eddie Guerrero to stop using his finishing move: The Camel Clutch.
Kurt Angle told Hassan that he should protect his finisher and not allow any of the boys to use it on TV. Hassan agreed and told Eddie Guerrero that he needs to stop using the move.
The problem was, the Camel Clutch move was actually created by Eddie’s father. As a result, it got some big-time heat on Hassan backstage. He was taken to court to explain himself.
Hassan was sentenced in court to pick up the bar tab (a few thousand dollars) for a number of wrestlers after a night of drinking in Tokyo.
In a shoot interview, Shane Helms says that Hassan bought a table of several WWE stars shots at the bar in order to say that he was sorry. They all proceeded to dump the shots on the floor.
In an interview with Wrestling Inc, Hassan explained his side of the story. He says that he picked up the bar tab and it wasn’t as bad as everyone said because they all knew he was goaded into it by Angle:
“I went to wrestlers court, and Undertaker and Shane McMahon were there, it was a pretty big deal, I was pretty nervous. Looking back, I think most people know it wasn’t something I did on my own, it was something I was put up to by Kurt”
