Sami Zayn vs. Mike Kanelis

Singles Match

Added last minute to the Battleground card has been Mike and Sami. A match that we saw in Smackdown Live this past week. Maria interfered and cost Sami the match just before the helluva kick. This feud needs to be to get Mike and Maria over however I don’t see this match ending the feud.

Expect some sort of messy finish with Mike Kanelis winning with the help of Maria. Expect Mike to steal a win maybe by countout and this feud continues.

Winner: Mike Kanelis

Kevin Owens vs. A.J. Styles

WWE United States Title Match

Is it even in question that this will be the match of the night? I know I spoke earlier about Nakamura and Corbin being very good but come on. Seriously. These two guys will tell a brilliant story and entertain us in between the ropes in what could become the match of the year. I think the WWE wants to go somewhere with the A.J. Styles open challenge at least through Summerslam and I could see Kevin Owens being moved away from the midcard title scene and being primed for a main event run in the fall.

This will end with an amazing pop-up powerbomb counter into a phenomenal forearm and I believe this will go all of twenty minutes.

Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal

WWE Title Match

I wrote in my RawView Tuesday night that if it were me I would take the title off Jinder Mahal. That is what I would do. I feel confident this will be the greatest Punjabi Prison match to date. Now is that saying much, I don’t know. These two have had a better than expected feud and has presented Jinder Mahal as a legitimate superstar in the WWE. I’m not completely sold on the promo skills as of yet however Jinder Mahal does look the part and has produced good matches so far in the main event.

Orton has done Jinder well in helping him get immense heat and I think Orton and Mahal will moved on from here and go their separate ways. Mahal wins when the Singh brothers stop Orton from exiting the Punjabi Prison allowing Jinder Mahal escape.

I expect this network special to outperform expectations as it’s been a while since WWE has put on a clunker. The blue brand also has a bit to prove here as Raw has definitely surpassed them as the premier brand of WWE entertainment. So I eluded in the article I would give some Summerslam predictions for Smackdown Live and here you go.

The WWE tile match for Summerslam will be John Cena and Jinder Mahal, US title match will be Nakamura and Styles, Kevin Owens will feud with Randy Orton and Sami Zayn will feud with Mike Kanelis.
