WWE Crown Jewel Rumors 2019

4) Why WWE Booked Tyson Fury vs Braun Strowman

Tyson Fury will be wrestling at the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. Fury will be facing off against Braun Strowman in his first-ever match.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about WWE bringing in Fury. According to Meltzer, this was a direct request from the Prince of Saudi Arabia:

“Several years ago Tyson Fury approached them, and I don’t know what happened, it just didn’t work out. Then very recently they approached Tyson Fury.”

“One of the things I heard is The Prince [in Saudi Arabia] — look, The Prince wants Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia. I don’t know that they’re getting extra money to bring in Tyson Fury, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.”

3) Rumor Killer On How Much Money Tyson Fury Is Making For His Match

A report recently came out that suggested Tyson Fury was being paid $12 Million for his match at WWE Crown Jewel.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer disputes that claim and says that it is lower than that:

The BBC reported Fury is getting $12 million for the bout. I was told that Fury is getting “a few million” but the $12 million figure is total bullshit. This is Saudi Arabia and that country is paying ridiculous money, and the idea they’d pay tons extra to get Fury and Cain Velasquez is very believable, particularly since they can’t get UFC.

2) The Futures Of Tyson Fury And Cain Velasquez In WWE

Crown Jewel will feature matches that feature two mainstream athletes. That includes boxing star Tyson Fury, who will be facing off against Braun Strowman. It also includes UFC star Cain Velasquez, who will be challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.

ESPN reports that Tyson Fury’s match is supposed to be a one-off. There are plans for Fury to fight Deontay Wilder next, so it appears as if Crown Jewel will be it for him. That makes sense and I am sure the door is open for Fury to do more with WWE in the future if things go well.

Velasquez, on the other hand, is a different story. ESPN reports that Cain has signed a multi-year deal with WWE and has officially retired from the UFC. That means Cain will likely be a fixture of WWE television for years to come. He is already being advertised for a tag team match alongside Rey Mysterio at a live event on November 30th. If he stays healthy, we could be seeing a lot of Cain over the next few years.
