WWE Referee Explains Why He Stopped The Universal Title Match At Hell In A Cell

Rod Zapata was the referee for the match between Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt at Hell in a Cell. The match ended in a referee stoppage, which upset a lot of fans.

Zapata was a guest on WWE’s new show, The Bump. During his appearance on the show, he explained why he called off the match.

Here is what Zapata said:

“With Bray motionless, and Seth clearly doing whatever it was going to take to win that match…I had to think of the competitor’s safety and at that moment, I did what I thought was best.”
