WWE Rumors: How Vince McMahon Felt Before The “Ultimate Deletion” And The Backstage Reaction After

The “Ultimate Deletion” match between Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy aired as the main event of Monday Night RAW this week. Love it or hate it, it certainly got fans talking.

We have a rumor to share about the backstage reaction to the match. As always, take rumors with a grain of salt.

According to a report from Wrestlezone, there was a backstage belief that Vince McMahon was worried the “Ultimate Deletion” would bomb.

Even though that might have been the case initially, the match is apparently now being seen as a big success among WWE management. That is based on the great social media numbers that the match did. For over two hours after the match aired, it remained as the #1 trend on Twitter.

The report says that it was a struggle to get the “Ultimate Deletion” on WWE programming but the door could be open for more content like it in the future.

Like I said, grain of salt. Still though, it kind of makes sense based on how Michael Cole trashed the match before it even started. Also, the match didn’t air inside of the arena for fans in attendance. Seems like WWE hedged their bets a little bit.

Your thoughts? What did you think of the match?

  1. I’m not a big fan of it. It was hokey in TNA, it is hokey now. I’m all for different, but different doesn’t necessarily always mean good.

Even those who say its meant to be hokey, hokey works in small doses. If this thing continues, it probably will become overkill.
