Big Update On The Potential Summerslam 2017 Main Event (Spoilers)

It has been rumored for the past few weeks that WWE is looking to make Summerslam 2017 into as big of a show as possible this year. As a result, WWE fans should expect to see some big matches at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn on August 20th.

Here is a big update on what could potentially be the Summerslam 2017 main event match.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the main event of Summerslam was originally scheduled to be Braun Strowman vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. These plans have changed to Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns at the event for the title.

As many fans know, Brock vs Reigns was long-rumored to be the main event of Wrestlemania 34 next year. If this report is accurate, it appears as if WWE has fast-tracked it to Summerslam. It is also rumored that John Cena vs Roman Reigns could now be the Wrestlemania 34 headliner if things all go as planned.

It will certainly be interesting to see how WWE builds towards this. Reigns has already came out and said that he is the number one contender for Summerslam. WWE already has a built-in story with Reigns vs Brock based on how their last match ended (Seth Rollins cashing in). They could easily pick-up from that point with both Reigns and Lesnar claiming that they never lost to one another.

Take with a grain of salt as always. Could be an awesome main event of Summerslam if this ends up happening.
