On Smackdown Live this week, Daniel Bryan announced a tournament to crown a new WWE United States Champion. This comes after Dolph Ziggler left the title in the middle of the ring last week, seemingly vacating the belt.
Let’s speculate on the United States Championship Tournament and what will happen.
A popular theory is that WWE is rehashing the storyline from 2011 with CM Punk. Punk left with the WWE Championship and WWE held a tournament to crown a new Champion. After this, CM Punk returned and claimed that he was the real champion.
In this scenario, Dolph would return after the tournament and claim that he is the true champion. This would set up a match to determine the true Champion.
It would make sense since a recent report suggests that Dolph is still working house shows but will be off Smackdown for the next few weeks.

As for a winner, I am going to go with Bobby Roode. I think that it is his time to hold some gold. I wouldn’t be shocked though to see Jinder with the belt.
