1st) Bruno Sammartino

– Days Held – 2,803 days

Bruno won the  WWWF World Heavyweight Championship on May 17th, 1963. He defeated “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers in only 48 seconds. Rogers has claimed that he suffered a heart attack a week before the match and was forced to compete. This has been disputed by Sammartino who said the State Athletic Commission would have never allowed it.

He held the title for a staggering 2,803 days from 1963 until 1971. During this time he defeated every bad guy possible and the crowd loved it.

You can watch his WWE Hall of Fame package that features a ton of highlights from this reign:

He didn’t lose the belt until 8 years later where he was defeated by Ivan Koloff on January 18th, 1971.
