Rumor Roundup: Backstage Note On Apollo Crews’ New Bodyguard, WWE Bringing Back Old PPV? More

3) WWE Star Worked Wrestlemania 37 Injured

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Damian Priest has been dealing with a bad back. Priest getting cleared to wrestle was said to be a last-minute decision.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“Priest has a bad back so that’s perhaps some of it. I guess the reason why they were talking about a singles match was because of Priest’s injury. I thought it was Morrison’s injury, but I guess it’s Priest’s injury. He was just cleared, I was told ‘last minute.’ I don’t know if ‘last minute’ means last week, but I was told it was touch and go. That’s what I was told today is that it was touch and go.”

My Take:

  • I am happy that Priest was cleared and the tag team match was one of the best matches of the night for me. I loved it.

2) Backstage Notes On The Weather Delay At Wrestlemania 37

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE talent was told to say whatever they wanted during the weather delay during night 1 of Wrestlemania 37.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The rain delayed Wrestlemania promos backstage were literally a case of talents being grabbed and tossed on camera.  We are told that the second the company got word about the weather issues, stage managers exploded into running in every direction to grab everyone they could.  Talents were basically told to say whatever they wanted as the company had no idea how much time they needed to fill and it was very much edge of your seat presentation.  If there was a lesson to be learned, it’s that some of the most entertaining stuff in some time was old school, off the cuff promos as opposed to the heavily scripted segments that have become then norm.

My Take:

  • I thought that the unscripted promos were great. I wish we got more of that kind of stuff.
