Rumor Roundup: The Plans For Wrestlemania 38, Why Tom Phillips Missed Night 1, More

3) Backstage Note On WWE 2K22

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), 2K is trying to be more transparent with the process of creating WWE 2K22.

The company is looking to be more transparent after all of the previous issues with WWE 2K20. Fans should expect more behind-the-scenes videos about the development of the game, with the idea of keeping the producers more accountable.

My Take:

  • This is good news as 2K20 was a disaster. My hopes are up that we get a much better game this time around.

2) Weather Delay Caused A Massive Scramble Backstage in WWE

According to Ringside News, WWE delaying the first night of Wrestlemania (due to weather) caused a massive scramble backstage.

Here is what the site wrote:

Ringside News was told that Vince McMahon was prepared to delay WrestleMania. He knew bad weather was possible. McMahon had a game plan, but the issues came with spreading that information backstage.

We were told by a tenured member of the team that Bruce Prichard was supposed to carry out those orders, but he did not communicate things effectively. The creative team was not told.

When the delay happened, Kevin Dunn was ready, because he was told by McMahon. John Laurinaitis had all of the talent ready for the show and “there was a scramble for backstage interviews.”

My Take:

  • I thought that the Superstars who did the unscripted promos did a great job. It just goes to show you that a lot of them would do fine if WWE didn’t script their every word.
