1) Shane Douglas
Someone that had a ton of issues with the Kliq throughout the years was Shane Douglas and there are numerous stories from both sides about their dislike for one another.
Douglas was interviewed by BeneathTheMat.com where he explained his side of one of the longstanding rumors involving him and the group.
Douglas was apparently supposed to win the Intercontinental Title from Shawn Michaels at: In Your House 4. This would have lead to a program with Michaels where he would eventually win the belt back. After Michaels got into an incident at a bar involving several marines, he was unable to compete and vacated the title. This was a convenient way for Michaels to get out of losing to Douglas, according to him:
“So, he [Vince] told me that Shawn was forfeiting the title — and it’d take to long to get into the whole thing but he was fine. He hadn’t been beaten up like they said he was beaten up. He was fine, the make-up girls beat him up like that”
At the In Your House event, Douglas was awarded the title via forfeit after Michaels could not compete. The Kliq influenced Vince McMahon to give the belt back to Razor Ramon, who defeated Douglas and ended his title reign at only 11 minutes long…:
“He didn’t want to because he and the Kliq felt that that belt was theirs and they had the right to decide, ‘We don’t like you, so you don’t get it. This guy, we like. We’re going to keep it with him.'”
Douglas has taken a number of shots at the group over the years, including many at Shawn Michaels.
