Curtis Axel is known for his comedy roles over the past year or two. He had the long-running gag about him not getting eliminated from the 2015 Royal Rumble. He was a parody of Hulk Hogan and he was also a member of the Social Outcasts.

It is clear that WWE sees him as a lower-level talent with no real plans to push him. The son of Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig is actually pretty talented in the ring.
Axel cut a passionate promo on RAW in his hometown of Minneapolis, showing that when given a chance he can shine:

“It never made a lot of sense to me. I think that he’s really a wasted talent. I think he’s a real talent. He’s every bit the athlete and the performer that his Dad was. I just always thought that he was a little bit like Cody Rhodes where it’s like they never quite gave him the right things to book him to be the star that he was”

Maybe it is time for WWE to stop booking him in the comedic type roles and give him a chance at something different?
