Kevin Owens Wins The WWE Universal Championship

RAW – August 29th 2016.

Finn Balor was forced to vacate the WWE Universal Title after suffering a shoulder injury at Summerslam in his match against Seth Rollins.

As a result, there was a fatal 4-way match on RAW to determine the new champion. Big Cass vs Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns.

Triple H returned to WWE TV and shocked the wrestling world when he turned on Seth Rollins. This allowed Kevin Owens to become WWE Universal Champion:

It was an awesome sequence of events. This set up the feud between Rollins and Triple H. It also saw Owens win the top title on RAW.

Certainly one of the most memorable moments of 2016.
