8) Kevin Owens
Owens is this high on our list because I think that WWE may have other plans for him at Wrestlemania 34. Owens is feuding with Shane McMahon and I feel like there could be long-term plans in place for them at Wrestlemania.
Still, he remains an option as someone who could win. He is a former WWE Universal Champion and has been involved in the main event picture of Smackdown Live for the past few months. He could realistically win the Rumble and move back up to the WWE Title picture.
If the plan is for AJ Styles to hold onto the WWE Title until Wrestlemania, I don’t think Owens wins. I don’t think fans want to see Styles vs Owens again after their lackluster feud for the U.S Title. Maybe Owens wins the Rumble and moves over to RAW to challenge Brock instead?
Still, I don’t think I could have a list without Kevin Owens after the year that he has had.
7) Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn is in a similar position with Kevin Owens. I think that they will both be involved in the storyline involving Shane McMahon come Wrestlemania time.
There is a key difference between Owens and Zayn though. Zayn has not wrestled AJ Styles a bunch of times over the past few months. As a result, he earns the spot ahead of Owens.
I think a lot of hardcore fans would love to see Sami Zan vs AJ Styles for the WWE Title. The match would likely be very strong as they are both great wrestlers. With Sami being a heel, this remains a possibility for Wrestlemania.
Don’t count Sami out at the Rumble this year, even if it is a slim chance.
