Real WWE Fights That Happened Backstage

8) Sin Cara vs Sheamus

Sin Cara (Hunico version) is reportedly a really tough guy behind the mask. He has been in a number of backstage fights and altercations over the years….It is said that Sin Cara has an undefeated record in backstage fights. Below is an example.

One that sticks out is against Sheamus. The story goes that Sin Cara had an issue with Drew McIntyre. He felt slighted that McIntyre would shake hands with only the top stars of the company but not with the lower card wrestlers. Sheamus made a joke to Sin Cara, that he took an exception to… It got physical and Sin Cara reportedly ended up on the winning end. Wrestling Inc details the story of what actually happened:

“According to Konnan, a few days later in the trainer’s arena, Sheamus walked by Sin Cara, who was lying on the bed, and made a remark saying he was more important than him. He told him to get off, and that he needed to be attended to. After getting up and “calling him out,” Konnan said that Sheamus threw the first punch and then had his legs swept by Sin Cara, while getting punched seconds later” (Source: Wrestling Inc).

Also… speaking of Sin Cara, he was also in a backstage fight against Simon Gotch of the Vaudevillains where he ended up on top again.

Moral of the story, maybe don’t mess with Sin Cara backstage.

7) Joey Styles vs JBL

Now, this seems like a mismatch at first glance. Joey Styles, the former ECW and WWE announcer vs JBL. Would you believe that Joey Styles actually got the beter of JBL in a backstage fight? Buckle up folks, this one is good.

Joey Styles reportedly knocked out JBL on WWE’s tour of Iraq in 2008. JBL is a reportedly a bit of a bully backstage and likes to mess with people (sometimes goes over the line). According to PWInsider.com’s sources, JBL pushed Styles until he finally snapped.

So What Happened?

Here is what PWinsider reports:

“Several days into the tour, JBL (who by all accounts, had been drinking) did something that caused Styles to physically retaliate in defense.  A number of wrestlers stepped between them and held the two apart.  When JBL broke free, he went towards Styles, who “nailed him perfectly with a pretty good shot” according to one witness, laying JBL out, busting him open and blackening his eye” (Source: PWInsider).

It is also mentioned that after this happened there were no further incidents between the two. Looks like JBL learned his lesson the hard way. It also says that Styles earned the respect of Vince McMahon for sticking up for himself.

Styles or JBL have never commented on the incident. If it went down like the report says, JBL likely won’t be talking about the incident anytime soon.
