“Less Is More” – 3 Ways WWE Can Improve The Quality Of Their Programming

3. Less PPV’s, Please.

This last one might sound a little crazy, so you have to hear me out. When the brand split originally happened, I was very excited for very many reasons. But on the list of things I was excited for, near the bottom end of the list was the idea that each brand could have less PPV’s.

I was hoping that instead of there being a PPV every 2 weeks, we would have a PPV every month, with every PPV being brand exclusive. This would mean that each brand would have 2 months to build for each PPV. I was very excited by this idea because I thought it would improve the TV shows.

I thought that because each show would have 2 months in-between every PPV, we would have more storylines happening off of PPV, and maybe some title defenses on TV. It would be a much better product if WWE had less PPV’s, because then they would be forcing themselves to put out a good product on TV that isn’t just promoting the next event that you have to pay for.

But instead of my little fantasy booking, WWE doubled down and put a PPV nearly every other week. I didn’t know until Tuesday that a PPV was this Sunday. This scenario of not knowing that a PPV would happen until last-minute has happened numerous times to me, and has probably happened to you too. Because of the quantity of the PPV’s, the value of them is lost. Some of the PPV’s are just filler to lead you to the next PPV.

So those are the three ideas that I have. I fully know that I would not be able to run such a big company like WWE, but you would expect that they would have some awareness that the amount of content that they are putting out is way too much. Another minor point that I could have brought up is to get rid of 205 Live, but I will give that show a few weeks before deciding if it’s worth keeping.

So as I mentioned before, WWE is not too keen on the idea of “Less is more”, so I hope that they are ok with using that logic next time they do an annual report.
