14 Bold Predictions For WWE Summerslam 2018

8) Jeff Hardy Doesn’t End Up Competing At Summerslam

Jeff Hardy will be facing Shinsuke Nakamura at Summerslam for the United States Championship. This is a bit of a weird one because many fans expected Randy Orton to be added to make it a triple threat.

My gut says that we won’t even see Hardy vs Nakamura happen. I think that we will see Hardy getting attacked by Orton in the backstage area during the event. I think this would keep the storyline going of Orton wanting to end Hardy’s career. This would also set up Orton vs Hardy at the next PPV event.

WWE could do Nakamura hosting an open challenge later in the show or just scrap his match completely for the event. I have a weird feeling that we won’t see Hardy vs Nakamura happen though.

7) AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe Will Be A Match Of The Year Candidate

There are some pretty strong matches on the card for Summerslam. This includes Daniel Bryan vs The Miz, Seth Rollins vs Dolph Ziggler and more.

My personal pick for the match of the night will be AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship. These two seem to have incredible chemistry with one another. On the list of the highest-rated AJ Styles matches, Samoa Joe appears three different times. That should give you an idea of how strong their chemistry is since Styles has had a lot of good matches in his career.

I am guessing that we will see another special match from these two at Summerslam. Not only will it be the match of the night, I am predicting that it will be a candidate for Match of the Year.

6) John Cena Makes An Appearance

A popular theory coming into Summerslam was that WWE was going to do a rematch between John Cena and the Undertaker. As we get closer to the event, that match is clearly not happening.

Summerslam is the second biggest show of the year for WWE and I still think that we will see John Cena. My gut says that Cena will appear during the middle of the show to cut a promo.

Cena could lay down a challenge for the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 35 in a Career vs Career match. Or maybe he will call out someone else. Regardless, I am going out on a limb here and saying that Cena appears at the event in some capacity.
